Is Carpet coming back in 2023?

Undoubtedly, 2023 will see a lot of carpet trends as cozy glamour returns to fashion.
The only carpet trends we could recall in the past were to rip them up or cover them with a rug. Carpets indeed have a terrible reputation in the interior design world. Still, we are sensing a comeback, and 2023 seems to be the year.
Carpet has never felt more appropriate for the moment, with the current decor mood firmly fixed on cozy glamour, that is, areas you can enter while taking off your shoes and still look presentable. Yet instead of the traditional flecked wall-to-wall, imagine checkerboard, ornate borders, and enormous circle forms regarding current interior design trends. A carpet that extends all the way to a room's edge? It won't be commonplace here.
According to top designers such as Abigail Aherm, "Carpet is making a major comeback in part, I think to the terrible times we all have been through, and therefore we are exploring methods to bring comfort into our homes." Yet nothing makes a space feel cozier and more opulent than carpet, according to the saying.
Thanks to its velvety underfoot feeling and alluring patterns and colors, it is no longer an afterthought but an essential element in tying spaces together. You can embrace carpet in various ways, from loving its texture (choose a prominent weft or tuft) to using it as the ideal foundation for a complementary rug layer, from luxuriant chunky loops that provide luxury underfoot to very bold and expressive patterns and hues, to natural materials like wool, jute, and sisal.
WHAT ARE THE CARPET TRENDS FOR 2023?
Earth tones
This year, say hello to warmer natural colors. According to Wahler, "We anticipate seeing lots of earthy tones (such as olive greens, golden yellows, warm rusts, and clay tones), which always help create a welcoming, warm, and well-lived environment." In agreement is Kristen Rivoli of Kristen Rivoli Interior Design. "Nature-inspired color palettes with coral, green, and blue tones as well as earthy neutrals, will continue to be a significant trend."
Textured, neutral pieces
Not a fan of colorful decorations? Be at ease. Jute, wool, and sisal are examples of neutral staple materials, says Wahler. In the coming year, "We anticipate seeing our rug designers experimenting with textural differences and designs a lot more!" Jen Dallas, the owner of an eponymous design company and upcoming rug collection, repeats these ideas. She says jute and seagrass make excellent underlay carpets for a smaller vintage rug.
Soft Lilacs
Although grey carpets are a tried-and-true option for both colorful and monochrome homes, going with a pastel tint like lilac is an excellent alternative. It prevents the room from being overly dismal. It can be paired with hues that are now popular in living room trends, such as deeper wine tones or even warm greens and yellows, to create a cheerful atmosphere that serves as the ideal foundation for the addition of color through furniture and accessories.
The primary bedroom's carpet
Why not ensure that your sleeping area has velvety carpeting underfoot? The bedroom should be a relaxing place to unwind. In contrast to the activity and noise of the "hardworking" rooms of the house, like the living and family rooms, Watts says, "we want the feeling of warmth and snug in the bedroom and a haven of tranquility." She proposes covering the entire wall in carpet in the master bedroom. "Wall-to-wall carpet quickly makes a space quieter and calmer, and because it absorbs sounds, it transforms into that.
We have, it must be said, been debating this issue up until this point. Yet after speaking with designers and trend forecasters, we can confidently state that, if done properly, carpets definitely appear to be making a comeback. Hence, if you're considering giving up your life of bare floorboards, go for it and get inspired by these carpet trends. Becomes that tranquil location for slumber and rest.
